Traffic Management Finland supports the transport ecosystem by offering the data used and collected in traffic management activities openly for the public.
Act on Transport Services (320/2017) states that a traffic control and management service provider shall open the following up-to-date information in a machine-readable format via an open interface for free use:
traffic-related meteorological data and weather forecasts;
information on traffic-related conditions;
measurement data on traffic amounts;
information on traffic flow and travelling times;
information on disturbances and exceptional circumstances;
information on changing speed limits and other changing traffic rules;
information on vehicle locations, if available;
other public information produced through public funding and referred to in the Act on the Openness of Government Activities (621/1999), unless the disclosing authority prohibits its opening as open data.
Furthermore, a traffic control and management service provider shall open the following static information in a machine-readable format for free use via an open interface:
history information on traffic flow and travelling times;
history information on traffic and measurement data;
