Tunnels

Highway tunnels are an important part of the road network. Our tunnel systems ensure the safety and flow of traffic. Our tunnel service plans and implements the control systems and other technical systems according to the various needs of highway tunnels by complying with strict tunnel safety requirements.

All of our operations are based on agreed development and service level requirements to which we are committed from planning and implementation to life-cycle management.

From planning to practice

We are responsible for the planning and implementation of new investments and repair investments concerning tunnel systems flexibly according to the needs of the project. The planning and implementation can be carried out as a separate project or as part of a Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency project.

Planning and implementation are carried out as an integral part of the tunnel project and in compliance with national provisions, guidelines and methods and EU directives concerning tunnel safety (including 2004/54/EC, the ITS directive 2010/40/EU, regulation 886/2013).

Continuous life-cycle maintenance

Our maintenance service is responsible for the maintenance of tunnel traffic management and other technical systems and their operating/support systems and data communications throughout the life cycle of the tunnel system 24/7/365.

Maintenance is carried out in compliance with provisions concerning tunnels, approved tunnel-specific safety documents, service level policies regarding traffic management and tunnel system maintenance and, in local and site-specific contracts, the agreed service levels and response times.

Expert roles

We also provide you with all tunnel infrastructure expert services, in which the need for and content of service are determined flexibly according to your current needs on a role- or project-specific basis.
